Ask those in the know
At the gym, you’ll encounter many people who are seasoned pros. They can help you become familiar with the gym, its equipment and rules. Every fitness centre should offer you a tour of the facilities before you sign up, so you can get the skinny.
Dress not to impress – but to be comfy
It’s very important that you wear slightly loose and very comfortable clothing for exercising. Lightweight cotton is always good. There are new fabrics that wick away perspiration from your body and it comes in all sorts of forms of exercise wear. Women’s support bras should be worn if possible.
Listen to your body, and then listen again
When you’re working out, your body will tell you when it’s time to knock off, when to hydrate and when to give it a rest. It’s a finely tuned machine that works intelligently; you just need to listen to it in order to keep it in optimal condition. For instance, if you feel sore, stop exercising and take a rest.
