They are quickly becoming the darlings of health aficionados and wannabe weight losers the world over. Chia seeds have earned their place in the diet profile as a ‘superfood.’ Here are some reasons why.

As calcium is very important to women’s bone health, you’ll be amazed to know chia seeds contain 500mg of calcium per 100g. This is more than double the calcium content of almonds or dairy milk.

Full of omega 3s

Vegetarians will be glad to hear that they can get the all-important omega-3 fatty acids from chia seeds. Meat eaters can expect to get theirs from oily types of fish, such as mackerel and salmon. But if you’re looking to cut back on seafood and don’t want to take a ‘fishy’ omega-3 supplement, try plant-based chia instead.
