Stress is known to restrict blood flow. Restricted blood flow can lead to a number of maladies, including the cardiovascular kind. Doing simple stretching will let blood flow freely to muscles, including the heart. If you’ve ever spent a day in an office chair, you’ll know that stretching every now and then can make you more alert and competent.

Stretching is a natural pain reliever

Tense bodies are more prone to injury. When your muscles are tense, that creates an opportunity for them to ‘freeze’ up, restricting movement. Again, the increased blood flow to tight muscles helps act as a natural pain reliever. It’s a great option if you don’t like taking aspirin or other medications for pain.

Deep breathing – during stretching or other like exercises – has benefits to help relieve pain and reduce stress. Breathing and stretching in concert together helps the flow of oxygen t
