It’s important to fuel your body with the right stuff for energy

Fitness experts say that fuelling your body before a workout is important in order to keep cells revving and to keep you from getting dizzy. But everyone has a different approach: some like working out on an empty stomach and some people need just that little healthy snack to see them through.

The ideal pre-workout nosh is a dose of protein and carbs which will give you a burst of energy without feeling bloated and slow.

What to Eat Before Your Morning Workout

Here are some tasty, healthy suggestions for before your next workout. Always indulge in small portions – you don’t want to exercise on an empty stomach.

Oh, nuts!

Actually, the ‘butter’ of the nut – be it peanut, sunflower or almond butter – is an excellent choice. Just one hearty teaspoon is chock full of good fat and proteins – the perfect balance for maintaining energy during your workout. Or, if peanut butter isn’t your thing, nuts in their natural state work just as well – just don’t overdo it.

Crunchy & soft

Your best source of healthy fat comes from the avocado. When you spread soft, ripe avocado on some toast (preferable whole grain!) you have yourself a wonderful source of fuel for your workout. For those who are gluten intolerant, try a rice cake in place of the bread.
