Age is just a number, they say, so don’t let the calendar dictate your well being.

Good physical health is important, but it goes hand in hand with equally good emotional and spiritual health. No matter your age, women can take advantage of this combination and conquer the world!

Secrets to Being Fit at Any Age

If you are in your 20s. . .

Your production of testosterone, the hormone that helps you build muscle, is soaring at this time. You’re also able to recover quickly from heavy duty workouts. Just make sure fitness is a priority in your life at this time, get plenty of sleep and indulge in the things you love, whether it’s food, shopping or just a good book or movie. You need to work your brain as well as your bod.

If you are in your 30s. . .

During this decade, you’re more confident and connected with yourself. You probably have a career in place and are dead set knowing where you want life to take you. Workouts that are intense are recommended now because you have the energy and drive to pull them off. Now is a good time to monitor your calcium intake to prevent the dreaded osteoporosis that can develop later in life. You can do this by strength training and consuming leafy greens, which are high in natural calcium.

If you are in your 40s. . .

Don’t stop working out and getting fit during this decade. It’s a great time to try something of variety, like yoga, tai chi or even a fun dance class. Low impact exercise is easy on the joints while helping you to stay trim. Watch the diet and alcohol intake, too, because too much of a good thing can make it hard to shed extra pounds now. Stay on top of those calcium-rich foods – or consider taking a supplement. Don’t forget to get rest – your body will tell you exactly when it’s needed!

If you are in your 50’s. . .

This is the decade where you can likely sit back a bit and relax should you choose to! You’re likely experiencing menopause at this time, so be good to your body and treat it right by reducing stress, eating well and doing the things you love to do.
