By October 6, 2014 No Comments

Beauty and health come from the inside out, so add these power-packed foods into your meal plans!

As we are certain you know, there is good food and bad. The following “good” items are highly recommended by physicians, dietitians and sports nutritionists as being beneficial to optimal health. If you’ve never tried some of them before, why not make them your new Spring go-to foods?

Healthy Spring Go-to Foods with Perth Fitness Trainer

Wonderful walnuts

Packed with body building amino acids, these crunchy beauties assist with the regulation of mood. Try crushed walnuts over oatmeal for an incredible breakfast that will keep you feeling full.

Amazing Asparagus

A wonderful spring veggie, these crisp spears provide enough B vitamins to keep your neurotransmitter system alert. Like walnuts, they elevate mood and are wonderful steamed with lemon butter.

Groovy garlic

Love it or hate it – garlic not only tastes great but is a good way to keep your weight down. Its compound allicin stimulates the brain to signal fullness. Try roasting whole heads of garlic to bring out its sweetness.

Lovely legumes

Beans, peas and lentils, too, will keep you feeling full – and they are a fantastic protein source for vegans and vegetarians. Packed with fibre, they’re cheap and easy to prepare, not to mention versatile. Whip up a Cuban black bean soup (with garlic!) and you’ll have a hearty, healthy meal.

Super Spinach

The iron and chlorophyll in spinach help with energy and oxygen circulation. One cup of spinach per day should provide enough energy to help you through a workout.

Stellar Salmon

Salmon is rich in omega-3s, which naturally assist with the building of collagen, which in turn helps make your skin cells firm. Salmon makes a nice anti-ageing choice. Try cedar-planked salmon with a lemon-lime salsa.

Beautiful blueberries

Tasty and pretty to look at, blueberries possess antioxidant compounds. Raw berries in a smoothie, juice or in a salad, are one of the best things you can put on your plate.
